The name Davison has been synonymous with elite level equestrian sport in Great Britain for many years. Dad, Richard is a four-time Olympian (including the 2012 London Olympic Games) and has been at the fore-front of the international dressage world for three decades. Mum, Gillian is a former point-to-point, national hunt jockey and event rider and in 2016 competed the successful grand prix horse Alfranco and has represented Great Britain on numerous occasions.

Joe and Tom Davison operate the show jumping team at Davison Equestrian which spans between Europe and the USA producing, competing and coaching for and at the most prestigious competitions on the circuit, including the Global Champions Tour and Nations Cups teams.

Joe has both been a member of Great Britain’s U21 jumping team and is heavily involved in the competition, management and production of the family’s young dressage and show jumping horses.

From the age of 16 Joe worked and trained with Irish Olympic star Billy Twomey. In 2012 Joe started riding for former Olympic gold medallist Jan Tops in Holland before moving back to the UK to become second rider for team Olympic gold medallist Ben Maher.

In 2015 HRH Princess Haya of Jordan invited Joe to join Team Harmony her prestigious show jumping team. Princess Haya is a well-regarded equestrian in her own right representing Jordan at the Olympic Games and former President of the International Federation of Equestrian Sports (FEI).

In recent years Joe has competed at major shows all over the world including Europe, USA and the UAE. He was a member of the British show jumping Nations Cup Team in St Gallen and Al Ain. He has jumped successfully at FEI 5* shows at the highest level including being placed 5th in the Kings Cup at the Royal Winsor Horse Show in 2016.

Joe gained a science foundation degree from Harper Adams University in 2011 and as well as being committed to science based ethical training methods he is also interested in all aspects of the welfare of equines.

Joe had a good season in 2018, one of his top results included winning the 2* Grand Prix at the Royal Windsor Horse Show with Coral Reef Wise Guy. Joe’s other results at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour included winning the 1.45m Jump off class with Quentucky Jolly with additional placings with Coral Reed Wise Guy.  He also won the 2* St George 2 Phase with Vilenco at Windsor.

Joe will spend the first part of the year in Florida at the Winter Equestrian Festival, bringing on his string of horses and making the most of the Winter sun!
