Eloise's Journey to the Amateur Showjumping Championships

23rd October 2015

My name is Eloise Dobrzynski, I’m 22 years old and my base is in Derbyshire. I work as a full time Instructor both freelance and at a riding school. I have completed my BHSAI and am working towards my BHSII. I have qualified for the 85cm class in the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur and Veteran Championships.

Enough about me, let me tell you about the guy who got me here!

My horse's name is V Kalies (Boy) and he is 13 years old, a 15.2hh Dutch Warmblood bred from the Dutch International Show jumper Kalief. I have owned Boy for just over a year now he arrived in England when he was 5 years old from the Netherlands and has had a good career to date always genuinely enjoying his jumping!

Boy has given me so much confidence and taken me to places and over jumps I never thought I'd be brave enough to do. This is my second year at the Dodson & Horrell championships but I’m hoping I’ll be more competitive this year as in 2014 I had only owned Boy for three months so was only just getting to know him! We did the 85cm then and only had one rail down on each of the days. We had a go at the accumulator too and did well in that, completing the course without any fences down.

Recently we have been trying to build our confidence over some larger tracks jumping up to 1.15m, and I have been really pleased. We came 2nd in the 95cm and 1st in the 1m open a couple of weeks ago at Speetley Equestrian Centre. Then only this weekend we came 4th in both the 95cm and 1m open classes at Field House, Marchington!

My goals for this year and going forward is to do well at Aintree in November, and to qualify for as many finals as we can in 2016!

I can’t wait for us to get in that arena at Aintree and give it our absolute best!
